Comas is developing a piloting our own course for community activists and volunteers involved in recovery community development.
The course will be accredited by the SQA leading to SVQ levels 2-4 in Community Development.
Volunteers and activists will volunteer with Comas projects and at least one other community agency as part of their accreditation.
Learning the principles, theory and practice of community development are an important part of the course. Learning is active and aims to engage with people with little or no academic experience, as well as those interested in stretching their academic interests.

Our first course delivery will take place in September 2011 with volunteers and activists directly involved with Comas.

In the long term, we will explore how to develop online learning and remote access to our courses. However, we strongly believe in the power of learning with peers, so we are thinking hard about how to ensure this remains a core part of the course for remote learners.
