Serenity Cafe Reflections

Ewing

Kane Duffy and Mikey Gaughan, two of the authors of “Serenity Cafe: on the Road to Recovery Capital” impart some knowledge and experience to former Scottish Government Minister responsible for Drugs Policy, Fergus Ewing, at the Recovery March 2010.

In 2009 Comas began to record the views of people in recovery as they followed their recovery journey and worked together to create the Serenity Cafe project. During 2010 we formalised the findings into a paper for the Journal of Groups in Addictions  & Recovery.
“Serenity Cafe: on the Road to Recovery Capital” shares our insights on the personal and community development challenges and achievements in the project, and reports the views of participants on their recovery and the impact the Serenity Cafe has had on their lives.
Over a year later, the article is finally in print. Things have moved on for the Serenity Cafe significantly during that year, but we are pleased that this formal record of the project’s development, challenges and impact is now available to share with an international audience.
