Comas: fresh perspectives.
Action - if we want things to change, we have to change what we do.
Comas explores new ideas and approaches to community challenges. We believe in testing innovative ideas and engaging individuals and communities in developing a stronger more resilient approach to their present and future.

Serenity Recovery Café Comas has been exploring ways of creating positive opportunities for people recovering from addiction to develop supportive social networks contributing, to the resilience of individuals and the recovery community as a whole. People in recovery often struggle with isolation, having damaged family ties and friendships during their addiction. Many people in recovery want and need social opportunities that contribute to their independence from support agencies and which are part of mainstream life. Comas has been developing a (dry) café/bar project called the Serenity Café. It is a user-led initiative running café-club events and developing a permanent recovery hub in Edinburgh. For more on the Serenity Café "I need community involvement and a sense of purpose. The Serenity Café feels like inclusion and a feeling of giving something back." |

Household Budgeting and Carbon Reduction Green Drying Using tumble dryers and launderettes places a financial burden on poor families, contributes to increased carbon emissions, contributes to damp housing and associated health problems. Yet modern housing has been developed without access to outdoor drying space. This project is promoting outdoor drying by engaging residents and engineers in creating new equipment for flat dwellers. For more info on this project see Green Drying
