Comas: Household Budgeting and Carbon Reduction

Comas has become aware that modern urban housing developments are often constructed without outdoor drying facilities. For low income occupiers of such properties tumble drying and launderettes are an expensive way to do their washing, and contributes to higher carbon emissions. Many families with small children have to wash clothes almost daily meaning that tumble drying is a large part of their household carbon footprint. An average family using a launderette might spend £15 on their weekly wash.
The Green Drying Project will work with residents to develop and test solutions to enable people to dry washing in free fresh air, making a huge impact on their day to day finances, quality of life and carbon emissions.
